It doesn’t matter what is going on in your life today. Be it overwhelming challenges in your finances, health, family, may be you are in trepidation and worry about the outcome of your life, maybe you are facing challenges that seem to be insurmountable or you are facing seasons of delay or disappointment in your life. Whatever the situation is, I want you to know that everything is going to be alright if you trust in God and refuse to be afraid. Everything will be okay!
The Bible says in Psalm 56:3, “whenever I’m afraid I will trust God”. In other words, whenever fear comes against me, I will choose to trust in God. Isa 12:2 says “behold God is my salvation and my deliverance therefore I will trust in Him and I will not be afraid”. The only way to be delivered from fear is to learn to trust God. No man born of a woman who is not born again can successfully be delivered from fear.
Fear came into the human race with the fall of man. In Rom. 3:23 the Bible says “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”. Every man on earth is plagued with this spiritual virus and cancer called sin. Sin is spiritual death that brought about separation between man and God and introduced fear. But the good news is that even though satan has been ruling this earth through fear, God has made a way of escape for us from the clutches of the devil. In Luke 21:25-26, Jesus shows us categorically that the days in which we are living, men’s hearts will fear because of the things that are happening on the earth. “There shall be signs in the sun and moon and on the stars and upon the earth distress of nations; there will be perplexity, men shall be confused for their own lives”. He said, “the sea and the waves will be roaring. Men’s hearts will fail them for fear because they will be looking at those things that are happening upon the earth.
The easiest way for you to be consumed by fear is to keep looking at what is going wrong. The more you look at your back and the chaos round about your life, the more you locate reasons why it is impossible for you to be delivered. The law of looking is whatever you look at, you gain details about. So if you keep looking at the hopeless situation, it will become more hopeless in your eyes. God’s power and ability will become so diminished in your life and you will become so hopeless that you come to a place in your life that you totally give up on life if you are not careful.
The answer to fear that God is giving us is that we are not to look at those fearful situations. We are to look rather at the Word of God. If you are not born again all you have available to you is to be optimistic and even the greatest optimists sometimes are crushed. God’s answer for man is not in man’s ability but in His ability. Many people try and live life on their own will power, their strength and ability but just like man is bankrupt to save himself, he cannot remove his own sin but has to rely on Christ’s blood to save him, so also man is bankrupt to live successfully without God. If man cannot save himself eternally, he certainly cannot save himself temporally. So the answer for fear cannot be in something that we have in ourselves outside of Christ. The answer for fear is in God. That is, being in Christ or the God that is in Christ.
Satan rules all mankind that is not subjected to Jesus Christ. If you are not born again, satan has a legitimate right to rule your life with fear. There is no way of real deliverance from fear outside Christ. It is only Jesus death, burial and resurrection that conquered satan. In Col. 2:15 the Bible says “having spoiled principalities and powers He made a show of them openly triumphing them over in it”. Jesus destroyed satan’s power over humanity but man is not permitted to live free from satan’s grip of fear until he is born again. Satan rules the world through fear and according to 1 John 4:8 “fear” has torment and fear is of the devil”. But 2 Tim. 1:7 says “God has not given us a spirit of fear but that of power, love and of a sound mind” Satan uses fear as his foremost assassin, fear is hell’s weapon of choice. If you deal with fear in your life, satan is totally paralyzed, hindered, grounded and has absolutely no power to keep you poor, sick or anything. Job said the thing he feared greatly had come upon him. Everything that happened to him was what he expressed his fear consistently about. That is what opened the door for the devil to enforce it. If you shut the door on fear, satan is completely paralyzed and has no authority to bring upon you any of his acts of terror.
Don’t look at the circumstance or be consumed by the circumstance; rather be consumed by the answer. The answer is what God has said. God made provision for human need through His spoken word. In Ps. 107:20 the Bible says people coming to the gates of death cried unto the Lord in their distress and He heard them; He sent His word to save them. God does nothing outside His word. No wonder the Bible says “God upholds all things by the word of His power” (Heb. 1:3). The key to trusting God is focusing on what He has said. The same way you used to focus on the trouble, you should focus on God’s word, His promise, His love for you, His faithfulness and ability to deliver you. Focus on everything you can find in the word of God that builds your faith for deliverance and that causes you to see yourself delivered from that situation. God has infinite ways, means and unlimited resources as far as God delivering you are concerned. God has ways and means to deliver you and bless you that you can never in your life time even conceive. Just trust Him, refuse to fear and break the devil’s power and authority over your life. Exercise your will to trust Him by embracing His words and thinking and mediating and receiving what He has said. Declare His word over your life day and night.
Ps. 56:3 says “what time I’m afraid I will trust in you”. Isa 12:2 says “behold God is my salvation therefore I will trust in Him and I will not be afraid” Isa. 56:11 says “In God do I trust I will not be afraid of what man can do to me”. In these days we are living in, no matter how troubling the situation may seem if you will refuse to be afraid you will totally break satan’s teeth.
Fear is simply a suggestion that something will come to pass in your life but except you receive the suggestion, it cannot come to pass. If you understand satan’s tactics and refuse to accept his suggestion, they will not come to pass. Say this, “I choose to doubt the devil, I choose to believe God. I choose to doubt my doubts, I choose to doubt my fears, I choose to believe God. I choose to believe and trust in God”. That will break satan’s power over your life and establish Gods power in your life and situation.
If you are not born again all you have is your natural ability. You cannot deal with fear successfully except you are born again. Why? Because fear is a spiritual thing released from hell. If you are a man born of woman, the truth is that if you are not born again, you are in union with satan. The only way you can get his nature out of you is to become born again. The Holy Spirit will then remove that nature out you and replace it with the nature of Christ. From that moment the power of satan is broken over your life. James 5:4 says “submit yourself to God and the devil will flee” You have the right to resist the devil. Fear holds men in prison and satan cannot do anything in your life outside of fear. So once you learn to cut the fear off, you have totally paralyzed satan. He cannot steal, kill and destroy when he is paralyzed.
The Bible says do not be afraid, trust God. But there are certain things you need to know to strengthen your ability to trust God. Firstly, you must know God is faithful. In 1Cor. 10:13 the Bible says “there is no temptation that has come your way that is not common to man,” No situation in life is unique. God’s faithfulness is revealed to you in the form of Him always creating a way of escape for you. You get to the place of escape by learning to trust Him. Trusting God means simply refusing to allow anything the devil has spoken to have a higher attention in your life than what God has spoken. You focus on what God has spoken and declare it over your life. This opens the door for Him to manifest in your life.
Secondly you must know that God loves you. Jer. 3:13-15 says God loves us with an everlasting love. He demonstrated His love towards us in giving us the best that He had to offer, His son, Jesus Christ.
Rom 8:32 says, “if God did not spare His Son Jesus how shall He not also freely give us all things”? John 3:16 says “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”. God’s love has been commended towards us according to Rom.5:8 even before we wanted anything to do with Him. God loves you! John 17:23 says “He loves us with the same love He loves Jesus.” The reason why Jesus came is to bring us to the same place of favour before God that He has. There is nothing we can ever do that can stop God from loving us. When we confess and repent from all wrong doing, His love is translated into demonstrations of acts of love and mercy on our behalf. 1 John 4:16 says we know this love and believe it. So believe that God loves you and God’s love for you is not just to take care of your eternal destiny but also of your temporal destiny. His love for you is demonstrated in Rom. 8:31 where Paul said, “if God be for us who or what can successfully be against us?” Also Rom. 8:37 says “we are more than conquerors.” Right now He is working behind the scenes in the invisible realm exercising His unlimited options for deliverance and out of them choosing an appropriate one to deliver you today. You must see with the eye of your faith that God is working to deliver you now.
You must also understand that God has your highest advantage, your greatest good and your best interest at heart because He loves you. In Christ we are greatly blessed (Eph. 1:3) and we are highly favoured (Eph. 1:6). To be favored means to be given unusual access, to be given preferential treatment. Learn to declare what the Bible says of you. Phil. 1:6 says “the communication of our faith becomes effective as we acknowledge the good things that are in us in Christ”. Learn to declare, “I am greatly blessed, highly favored and deeply loved. Therefore I’m more than a conqueror; all things are working for me now. The hand of God is at work in my life. I see myself delivered out of every negative circumstance in my life.” You must understand that God’s mercy towards you endures forever. Mercy in actual terms means God’s eagerness to deliver you and do you good. When you understand that, every doubt is removed from you and when all is said and done you are more than a conqueror.
