THE BATTLE IS THE LORDS (1)

by

1 Samuel 17: 1- 4

“Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle and they were gathered together at Shochoh which belongeth to Judah and they pitched between Shochoh and Azekah in Ephesdamin. And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah and set the battle in array against the Philistines. And the Philistine stood on one side, and Israel stood on the mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them. And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.”

Can you see how they fight in those days, one group gathers on one side and the other group gather on the other side and there will be space in between them. That is how they used to fight. In contempory days Goliath was almost 10ft tall. The best of use may get to 6:3- 6:5, but Goliath was 10ft. He wasn’t 10ft and skinning, he was 10ft and muscular.
1 Samuel 17: 5-6
“And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail, and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass. And he had greaves of brass upon his legs and a target of brass between his shoulders.”
In other words he had sheen guards upon his legs, He was heavily armored.
1 Samuel 17: 7
“And the staff of his spear was like a weavers beam, and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron and one bearing a shield went before him.”
You can imagine someone that is 10ft tall how tall will his spare or javelin be? Usually the spares of warriors in those days are usually slightly taller than them. You can imagine, his staff was like a pole, or something that you use for pole. His shield was so big that he needed someone to carry it.
1 Samuel 17: 8-11
“And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, why are ye come out to set your battle on array? Am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? Choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me. If he be able to fight with me, and kill me then we will be your servants, but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then all ye be our servants, and serve us. And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day, give me a man that we may fight together. When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.”
What Goliath was saying was I defile you and I defile your God. It is equivalent to someone spiting in your face.
The word dismay means they lost all hope or courage concerning the future. They couldn’t see a future anymore, all they could see was Goliath. Goliath represented their future and spoke to them of what they could and could not attain in this life.
1 Samuel 17:11
“When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.”
That is the back drop of our discussion. It is a very simple thought I want to share in a few words. The Battle is the Lords.
Now look at these armies of Israel against the armies of the Philistines. And out of the armies of the Philistine came a giant by the name of Goliath, who was their champion. You will suppose that with all that went around
concerning the choosing of a king for Israel, when the lot fell on Saul, the bible said that Saul was head and shoulders above his compatriots? That means Saul was at least a full 1feet taller than anybody else in the whole realm of Israel. So I suppose Saul was 7 to 8ft tall, and he was made king and the whole of Israel rejoiced.

So you will imagine that if a champion came out of the land of the Philistine to fight Israel who will be the normal choice to come out and fight against that champion? It is just like somebody who has been made a governor of a State or the Head of State of a nation, when critical national issues come up he will be pushing his minister and hiding behind them, or the pastor of a church only wanting to enjoy the gilt and glory of being a pastor but when the critical time comes for him to make a decision or fight challenges, he will be sending his intercessors and hiding in the background.
That is what happened; Saul stepped out of his place, or did not assume his place. Why? The bible tells us in verse 11, at that time Israel technically had no leader, do you know why I said that? Because you are only qualified to be a leader when you can step up to the plate. When a husband is not leading his home and the wife or the kids comes and start leading, the husband is just a male and is no longer a leader there.
Leadership is responsibility and action, and here Saul had the opportunity to step up and believe and prove that he was a choice of Israel for a king, that he was the right choice and he believes God. But the bible said he and the people were afraid; when the people are overtaking with fear nothing happens. Everywhere was in a state of paralysis.
1 Samuel 17: 16
“And the Philistine drew near mourning and evening, and presented himself forty days.”
Mourning and evening that giant came out and was announcing himself and crying for forty days, “who is going to come out and fight me?” Every single day that the Israelites did not respond to him their fear multiplied and their courage deplicated. I have come to discover this that giants in life have a nature and character to them. Goliath was a man but he represents something that we in the New Testament can benefit or not.
He was a giant. Let me show you one of the things he was doing that are the nature and character of giants;

The first thing about a giant is this; a giant always wants to be the one talking. That’s a giant it talks.
The bible says in Romans 8: 31
“What then can we say about this things, if God be for us, who or what can successfully be against us.”
Now no matter what it is that represents a giant in your life, whether it is a financial obstacle, a troubled marriage, sickness in your body, a situation you can’t break through, everybody in this life faces giants. No matter how anointed you are, you will face giants in this life.
The bible says in Psalms 34: 19
“Many are the afflictions of the uncompromisingly righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.”
They ones that are studes are not they ones that have a question about them, they uncompromisingly; they are not just born- again but they are standing. Some people are born- again, they’re righteous, they’ve been made the righteousness of God in Christ but they are submarines, they don’t want to show you they are born again. They are convenience Christian. They are born- again only when it looks good, when it doesn’t, all of a sudden they are not born- again, and they call that wisdom but that really is foolishness.
Now you see this, it says “the Lord delivereth him out of them all.”
The bible doesn’t tell us that the affliction of the righteous are few, they are many, but, BUT, What does but mean? But In the English language is an operator, it means deemphasize what you just heard and emphasize what you are hearing now.
Even though the afflictions of the righteous and the troubles of the righteous are many but the Lord delivers him out of them all, he didn’t say the Lord give them patience to bear till the go to heaven, it says the Lord delivereth him out of them all. All you need is a good theologian to confuse you, but if you can read the bible, you won’t get confuse. If you can just learn to see things the way God sees them faith will be your companion in this life. Keep telling yourself these things I’m going through are part of them all and the destiny of these things I’m going through is my deliverance.
Jesus said in John 7:23
“In this life you will have troubles, but be of good cheer I have overcome the world”, so trouble is not the issue.

Giants have a nature they speak.
“And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, why are ye come out to set your battle on array? Am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? Choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.”
Israel kept hearing these words, Israel kept leaving that giant to keep talking. From day one when the never answered him, they started having more confidence in him than in their God. Giants have a nature and character they speak. The purpose of a giant is it speaks for the purpose of intimidation. Anybody that seeks to intimidate you is really somebody that doesn’t have confidence in himself. People who are secured in themselves don’t try to intimidate you. When you see someone always looking for attention, always trying to show how great he is, how big he is, when you see someone with apostle, prophet, evangelist, doctor to his name and is always trying to call those things, he has a problem.
Giants by their nature intimidate, that’s their purpose. They speak for the purpose of intimidation. Look at the outcome of the voice of a giant to Saul and his people. The bible said “all Israel heard the voice of the Philistine and they were dismayed.” They lost all hope and courage concerning the future, and they were greatly dismayed.
Don’t tell me it is not important who you are listening to. Anybody that stands as a spiritual authority in your life; you better be sure where he is getting his theology from, because you will not go beyond the theology of your teacher. If your theology believes that God will put you to a grind stone and put sickness on you to teach you something, then that’s all you will believe. If you believe that God will make you poor to teach you something then that’s all you gonna believe. But you don’t need to stay with the philosophy of someone whose words are not in line with the word of God. That is why you have the bible, go learn for yourself, find out who God is and what He is capable of doing or not doing for yourself.
They heard his words and it created a picture in them and they saw themselves like Goliath. Can you believe a whole Israel, who is in covenant with God, allowing that giant to define them?
Don’t let your house, car, education or what anybody says define you. Don’t let circumstances define you except who God says you are. Don’t let that giant define you. The giant in life are speaking that is why you need to be in a good anointed environment that will speak back to the giants in your life and teach you how to speak back.
You don’t shut-up when the giants are speaking, what the giant wants is your attention, once it gets your attention, it will start working you and creating your world for you. Don’t let anybody create your world for you, they will create it too small. I have learnt in this life that you don’t share a 17 by 17 dream with someone that has a 2 by 2 mentality; you will just turn a good friend into an enemy. God’s word should give you the authenticity to become elastic in your dreams and capability in believing Him. The allowed this giant to speak and giants speak for the purpose of intimidation.
1 Samuel 17: 16
“And the Philistine drew near mourning and evening, and presented himself forty days.”
Do you know that is how situation are? They draw near everyday, before you know it you are making plans according to your wages instead of according to what the word of God says about you.
This things we all face in life, they have a way of drawing near. They have a way of waking up with you and going to bed with you if you allow them. The more you meditate on the devils lies, the bigger the become and the smaller your God becomes. Intimidation was the giants’ motive. All the giant want to do is present itself to you as being invincible, as being unconquerable. Every giant has one purpose in life to generate fear in you and kill your courage. The currency we spend in life is not naira and kobo or dollar and pounds. The currency we spend in life is just two things faith and courage. The bible says God created man to live by faith, the just shall live by faith
Romans 10: 17
“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”
2 Corinthians 5:7
“We walk by faith not by sight.”
The currency for success in life is not who you know or your degree. The giant purpose was to instill fear because you either live your life in faith or you live your life by fear; either allow faith to lead you or fear. That is how we are created. Every giant in your life is on an assignment to kill your faith and to generate fear but you know it cannot do it except you decide to listen to it. Faith and courage are the raw material that builds life. That is why when God was speaking to Joshua and the children of Israel in Joshua 1: 1-9. God spoke to Joshua on three occasions in the same contact, He told Joshua three time “Be strong and of good courage.” In verse 9 He said “Have I not commanded you”, not suggest or advise but command. If you are going to get anything done in this life you have got to be strong, not muscle strength inner strength and you’ve got to have good courage.
Every giant wants to turn you into a coward, you don’t have to fight in Iraq or Afghanistan to prove your courage, everyday of life demands courage. Everyday you wake up, you need courage for that day. The first thing to opening the wisdom of God is courage, once your heart is set right then wisdom begins to flow. Satan wants to defeat your courage don’t even take the first step, don’t even make the first move, most times that next step you need to take is the one that usually breaks the devils back. Many times before your breakthrough nothing in the natural will suggest to you that you are about to breakthrough. You must live by faith and not by sight, Satan wants to kill your courage, he wants to turn you into a coward. Refuse to be a coward, take the word of God and stay in your place, God will give you victory’ don’t stop tithing, don’t stop giving and certainly don’t stop being faithful to God.
Satan want to turn you into a coward, he wants your courage to flee. Anybody who became a coward became one because of what they were considering, what they were listening to. Everybody listens to something; nobody can exempt themselves from any spiritual law. There is somebody speaking as an authority in your life. Either the devil is an authority or God is an authority in your life. And they are not the only authorities. Some people’s authority is their parents; it is ok if they are just as long as their authority does not contradict Gods word. Some people in life their authorities are their experience in life or experiences with others.
When God puts you on a mission and tells you to do something and you do it Gods way, you will succeed regardless of what anybody says. Life demands courage, and this courage you get is from the word of God. Supernatural courage, which is why God told Joshua “this book of law shall not depart from you, but meditate upon it day and night that…..” The source of genuine courage is the word of God, you must learn how to come to covenant with Him because He is a covenant keeping God. When you start listening and obeying God, you kill discouragement and slay the giant of cowardice. Refuse to be a coward and go for Gods best.

When the children of Israel were at the border of Canaan, they had come to the promise Land, the giants were the border and sign post that they had come to the promise land. The land of Cannaan was not a type of heaven because heaven has no giants. The promise land that God promise Israel was a physical location but in the new testament our promise land is Gods’ promises, the things that He has promised us in His word can be ours; health, healing, abundance. An abundant life that Jesus talked about that is our Canaan.
In heaven there are no battles to fight, but in this Canaan God promise the Israelite there are battles, and this Canaan in the Old Testament is a type of the quality of life that God has purchase for the believer in Christ. So the sign post is that which shows that you have reached the promise land. How do you know you are in Canaan? You know you are in Canaan when you start to see the greatest giants in your life appear, your flesh might not like it but every great promotion you usually get is occasion by the greatest move of hell against that believer.
Out of darkness God brought forth the light of Christ, out of crucification God brought redeemsion, out of the suffering sinful saviour God brought dignity and honour for the human race. You got to understand how God does things. The covenant removes you from the curse. Everytime those giants appear speaking to you, you need to understand this that behind every giant is your greatest opportunity in life. That giant wants to take your courage and implant fear because he knows once you take that first step he is finished.
That is why when the children of Israel face the red sea and they were crying, Moses told them prophetically, not because He heard from God, but he told them by faith, “be still”. This Egyptians you see today, you will see them no longer”, then he turned to God and said “God, What I’m I gonna do. There is a red sea” God said “why are you crying out unto me, tell the children of Israel to move forward”. When you make up your mind to move, wisdom will come. Sometimes it may not be a physical movement, it may just be a change in attitude, an adjustment of disposition, an adjustment in your mind frame.
Ecclesiastes 9: 11
“ I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all”.
The giant know that once you start taking that step of faith, it cannot stop you only you can stop yourself. People get successful because God administer time and chance to all. Time is a specific period in human existence and chance is an opening, when you merge time and chance it produces opportunity. But many times people are sitting down and waiting for opportunity without understanding that opportunity is all around them. Your opportunity is behind the giants that have been intimidating your life. Behind that giant is your greatest opportunity.
1 Samuel 17: 25
“And the men of Israel said, have ye seen this man that come up? Surly to defy Israel is he come up; and shall it be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel”.
When David came into the battle, he was a forgotten young man tending to his father’s sheeps. He was the eight child of a man called Jesse, and Jesse was not too proud of David because he was a legitimate child; a child from Jesse passion outside of marriage. He was left in the back taking care of the sheep because he was the youngest. Jesse will send David to go and feed his brothers at the battle and to enquire how they are doing, and David, when he got there, left the cheese and cakes his father had giving him for his brothers and went out to enquire and fellowship with them. And as he was talking with his brothers the giant started speaking “bring me out a man let him come and fight us” and David was wondering.
It is no testimony that comes up and praises God for 5 minutes and the remaining minutes all you are speaking about is the devil. You wounder why you don’t have courage or faith. Change the subject of your conversation.

1 Samuel 17; 25-27
“And the men of Israel said, have ye seen this man that come up? Surly to defy Israel is he come up; and shall it be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel. And David spake to the men that stood by him saying, what shall be done to the man that killeth this philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? And the people answered him after this manner, saying, so shall it be done to the man that killeth him”.

Reward entice. They said three things-:
1. The king shall dash you his daughter; that means you are the kings’ in- law.
2. You will not pat taxes in Israel.
3. The king will give a handsome reward.

1 Samuel 17: 26
“And David spake to the men that stood by him saying, what shall be done to the man that killeth this philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
David didn’t understand why they were all sited and complaining like there is no God in Israel. That’s why many times separation is good. David’s father Jesse thought he had sentence him to a mediocrity life by tending to the sheep but it was in that wilderness, he fed the sheep and learnt how to hear God, in that wilderness he fed the sheep and learnt how to be faithful, Jesse did not know that God was training David to be a shepard over His flock Israel. It was in that place that David learnt his skills as a warrior, because you will discover later on when David was recommended to Saul before this story as a man who played the harp and who can cure him of this evil spirit that disturb him; they said concerning David that he was a valiant man, a man of war. That means amongst the Shepard David’s’ reputation had roam. They said “come and hear of a Shepard who would not run away when a lion or bear takes a hold of his flock, a Shepard who would do combat with a lion or bear and deliever the flock out of their hands”. His fame went abroad amongst the Sheppard.
David never fought a war in his life, but he had fought wild beast. He was a courageous man. David said “who is this uncircumcised philistine that he should defile the armies of the living God”. Everybody else saw a problem. It was the Spirit of God that led David, he had been trained as a warrior. He saw an opportunity and he took it. David saw war as an opportunity for victory. David was a warrior, his ears were opened for opportunity. Many of us don’t understand when opportunity comes, when trouble comes that’s opportunity for you. Every time you conquer opportunity there is always a multiply of reward from God. David saw Goliath as uncircumcised. When David talked about circumcision he was referring to covenant.
Because in Genesis 15 God entered covenant with Abraham. But in Genesis 17 when He said this covenant shall be between me and your seed and if we are in Christ according to Galatians 3: 21 “we are Abrahams’ seed and heir according to his promise. The sign of Israel covenant in the physical was physical circumsion, every male had to have their male organ circumcise, that was a sign that whoever does that physical circumsion will enter into covenant with God.
But the Bible says “We are of the circumcisions who worship God in the spirit and not in the flesh, we are Israel of God, our circumcision is not an outward one but the circumcision of the heart. Now that we are born again we are regenerated by the blood of the lamb”. Our hearts are responsive to God; we tremble at the word of God. We are obedient children that is our circumcision to cause a mans’ heart to fear Jehovah. Not just to be born again, but your ears to be open to the voice of God so He will lead you to the path that you should go. A responsive heart, an open ear that is our covenant.
David said “ who is this uncircumcised philistine”, that means this man we are talking about does not have covenant with God, he has not entered into a blood covenant with Jehovah, God has sworn to us by blood covenant out of which no party that lives can live alive. God has sworn to Abraham; our fore father by blood covenant, with Israel through Abraham and David came on the strength of that covenant. He said “look at that man I know he’s ten fit tall but what about the God that we are in covenant with”. David confidence was not in himself, he
de-emphasis himself and emphasis his God.

Ephesians 2: 9-10
“Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should boast”.
Actually it is Jesus covenant we benefit from; we have the chance to benefit from Christ.
1 Samuel 17: 27-29
“And the people answered him after this manner, saying. So shall be done to the man that killeth him. And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, why camest thou down hither? And with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightiest see the battle. And David said, what have I now done? Is there not a cause?
There is a time to answer people. Criticizers are not performers.
1 Samuel 17: 30-31
“And he turned from him toward another and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner. And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him”.
What brought David to the limelight? Not a prophetic gift, he spoke words. Your words will defeat you or set the destiny for your life.
Proverbs 18: 21
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.

David was not only somebody who was quick to recognize opportunity; he was also a good negotiator. When David came into the presence of the king, he said “I can solve this problem for you”. When God brings you in the presence of kings don’t say you can’t do it, say you can and the wisdom of God will help you. The reason why Saul could not face growth was because he could not face lions and bears in the wilderness. Everything you were a coward about today you will be a coward about it tomorrow. Everyday is an exercise and practice of courage. Don’t expect to perform on the large scene of life when you haven’t performed on the smaller scene. What did you think made Saul listen? Saul was a shepard; he knew that David could get the job done.
So he said to David, come and wear my armor. And David wore Saul’s armor and he couldn’t move; the bible said he could not move because he had not proven that armor. Don’t try and be like anybody in your life. God needs only you. What is your armor? Your armor is that which protects you in battle, the armor in which you trust. Jesus said
“A man cannot do any damage until he goes to a strong man house; strip him of his armor where in he trusted”.
Your armor in this case will be your personally experience with God, your walk with God, your revelation of who God is. The bible says “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”.
David had knowledge of God. He said God has delivered me from that lions and bears, this one shall be as those. Almost everybody has a lion and bear story. God has delivered every one of us from a lion and bear at some point in time. You have to have that reference point, whenever those giants are telling you; you will never come out of this one. It will bury you, say NO, God deliver me from the Jaws or a lion and bear this one shall be as those as well. God will not anoint another persons revelation for your battle, or your pastors’ revelation for your battle unless it becomes yours. God wants to give you your own knowledge and faith, God wants to give you your own experience with God so you go into the battle of life not talking about the God of some man but talking about your own God.
David said I have not proven this armor; I will go in battle with what I have proven. What you need is to start using what you have and trust God to anoint it. God is never interested in what you don’t have, He is interested in what you do have, that is why when the disciples came at the feeding of those twenty to thirty thousand people, (five thousand men and about twenty to thirty thousand women and children). The disciples were saying “send these people away, where will we get bread to feed them”, Jesus knew better, He said “ No that’s not the way it is done, tell them to sit down, by the way lets find something to put in God hands so He can multiply”. Here come five loaves of bread and two fishes. Jesus said “it is enough”, Philip said “what shall these things do”, Jesus said “it is enough, watch and see what I will do”. Father I thank you because you always hear me, I thank you because whatever I put in your hands is more than enough, now I present this to feed your people. Go and give them”.
At the point at which they are going, nothing happened, they just discovered that as they gave, it was multiplying, until twelve baskets was left over. God will use what you are and who you are.
When Moses spent fourty years in the wilderness, God did not say “go and borrow one anointed mans staff somewhere”, He said “ you see that staff you have been using for fourty years in the wilderness tending this sheep, that staff is what I will anoint, that one you have in your hand I will anoint it”.
When that prophet’s widow came and said to Elisha “Your servant the prophet is dead, he has left us with children. The creditors are coming to take my children”. That shows you that anointing does not equal provision. You can be anointed but you may not know how to operate in Gods principle of provision. You can be anointed and starve to death. That prophet was so in depts that his children were taken as payment for his dept. he said “what do you have in your house?’’.
David knew that at any point in time in life, whenever he was with God, it was enough to get him victory if he just put his trust in God. So he went out, chose five stones, put it in his shepard bag and went out to the battle.
1 Samuel 17: 40-42
“And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a Sheppard’s bag which he had, even in scrip and his sling was in his hand: he drew near to the philistine. And the philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him. And when the philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him, for he was but a youth, and ruddy and of a fair countenance”.
Goliath was a talker, he liked attention and that’s how the devil is.
1 Samuel 17: 43
“And the philistine said unto David, Am I a dog that thou comest to me with staves? And the philistine cursed David by his gods”
David has come all the way, he has position himself, he has spoken words of faith, and this is where the battle is won. David is now face to face with this giant, and the giant still speaking and intimidating. That is just like the devil; you will never be healed of this plague, you will never come out of this, you and your family will remain like this forever. You know circumstances have a way of talking, it is a circumstance. It is just talking to you.
1 Samuel 17: 45
“then said David to the philistine, thou cometh to me with sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, Whom thou hast defiled”.

Most Christians loose battles in life because the battles they seek, they don’t really seek it for Gods glory. In there heart of heart, all they’re thinking about is God just deliver me, they are not thinking about how there deliverance can give God glory. What you should be thinking about is God You know You have a lot at stake to get me out of this because once I’m out my mouth will not be silent, I will sing of your praise all the day long.
David said “I come to you in the name of the Most High God, the Lord of Host. The God of the armies of Israel whom you have defile”.
1 Samuel 17: 46
“this day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcasses of the host of the philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel”.
David was a spiritual warrior; he understood one spiritual fact that for you whoever takes the day has the last word. Don’t let the devil have the last word, get the bible and scripture out and start speaking the word of God, start thanking God, start establishing your victory, go to sleep with the last word, the devil should not have the last word because who has the last word establish the victory. David from that point on shut Goliath up and he had the last word. He started pumping him words.
1 Samuel 17: 47
“And all the assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into my hands”.
David did not only stop at Goliath, but the entire host of Philistines. Do you know that during David’s tenor as King Goliath’s sons rose up to take vengeance on the son of Jesse. That was the time that David’s’ mighty men came and said “David you are the light of Israel. We will not allow the light of Israel go into battle again. We will go to battle on your behalf”. David words not only delivered him and Israel but it went into the future; and they slew Goliath sons by the strength of those words David spoke at his encounter with Goliath. We don’t fight these battles with physical weapons but with faith and courage in God and His word. Take your bible and establish what you want to become in this life.
David said “these Philistines, I will feed their carcass to the birds of the air”. David as one man could not give the carcass of all thousand Philistines, David won the victory for the whole nation, it was those cowards after the saw David’s’ victory, they started following them. The battle is the Lords.

God did not tell David to declare it, He said “I will kill you Goliath, I will smite you, I will cut your head and give it to the fowls of the air and all of this your people I will feed their flesh to the birds”. He didn’t let Goliath talk after that. Don’t let satan speak to you, open your mouth and start telling him who you are. Establish your word, be the one with the final say. Can’t be silent and win spiritual victories. Open your mouth and address the devil, tell where to go.
1 Samuel 17: 47
“And all the assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into my hands”.
David knew how to transfer the battle to the Lord; speaking words of faith, moving against the enemy in courage. He move the battle into the Lords’ Hands. He said “the battle is the Lords and he will give you into our hands”. As soon as he said that he did not allow Goliath to speak again, he ran towards Goliath. From that point in time all he saw was God taking him in His Arms, all he saw was legion of angles attacking Goliath. The bible said as he ran toward him, he took his stone and he threw it. He was not a good mark man but God took that stone and placed it on Goliath fore- head and Goliath fell to the ground. It wasn’t the stone that killed Goliath, they stone could not have kill Goliath but that was not David’s’ declaration. He did not say “my stone is going to kill you”, he said “I will cut off your head”. So God didn’t allow the stone to kill Goliath because you shall have what you say. David said and describe the way of Goliath’s death was; after he fell down, David had to use both hands like an axe, he spent like fifteen minutes cutting Goliath head off, that’s what happened. The first blow must have cut Goliaths’ arteries and blood started coming out. He hit it again and again, that’s how it was bloody, that is God. He is a warrior; He will finish your enemy to the end. That sickness, that disease, that impossibility, the battle is the Lords.

But you know what won the day:

1. David knew he had a covenant with God.

2. He dared to believe the covenant he had with God.

3. Obedience; And he release words of faith.

I have learnt this, usually before you do things; you end up saying it first. Either you say it in the public. Some way or the other, before you act you express it. It is important what you are expressing in the public place. Don’t express fear, express confidence in God. Force yourself, open your mouth and say “I serve Jehovah, the Lord of Host and it shall be unto me exactly as the word of God has said. I’m coming out of this situation. I’m rising to the top regardless of what is happening around me, because I am a covenant child of God I walk in obedience with God”. Set your faith and the words of your mouth in line. That thing that is in front of you belongs to Jehovah. The battle is the Lords. The secret to covenant is Gods’ word. Hide it in your heart, speak it with your mouth, learn to transfer the battle to the Lord.

THE BATTLE IS THE LORDS (2)
1 Samuel 17: 1- 4

“Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle and they were gathered together at Shochoh which belongeth to Judah and they pitched between Shochoh and Azekah in Ephesdamin. And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah and set the battle in array against the Philistines. And the Philistine stood on one side, and Israel stood on the mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them. And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail, and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass. And he had greaves of brass upon his legs and a target of brass between his shoulders. And the staff of his spear was like a weavers beam, and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron and one bearing a shield went before him. And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, why are ye come out to set your battle on array? Am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? Choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me. If he be able to fight with me, and kill me then we will be your servants, but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then all ye be our servants, and serve us. And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day, give me a man that we may fight together. When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.”

The word dismay means the lost all hope or courage in the future. We’ve been talking on this subject the battle is the Lord’s, we’ve been picking principles from the life of David concerning how to tackle and handle the giants in life. Take time out to study 1 Samuel the seventeenth chapter, the whole fifty eight verses and you will discover so many life changing principle concerning how to tackle the giants in life. Even though David was handling a physical giant, a human being, but you know there are all kinds of giants that we go through in life. And in this life you will face certain amount of challenge and conflict, but it shows us solid eternal principles concerning how to handle giants.
The battle is the Lords. Here David found himself in a situation where Israel and the nation of the Philistine were at war and it all come down to a champion called Goliath coming out and standing out for the nation of the Philistines and saying look lets just settle this matter. We don’t have to come out and kill ourselves, let us just take a man from Israel, the man stand for the nation. And Israel could find nobody until David came along.
There are two statements that David made that I want to refer to. In verse twenty and fourty seven, there is a statement that force that is motivating him. It is a fact that every one of the people including Saul the king and all of the soldiers could have done what David did. All of them had the potential to do what David did and get the victory. But we discovered that David’s mind set and attitude he got from separation. His place of separation his secret place of God, in his fellowship with God, God had imprinted in him a certain mind set and attitude. A certain revelation of God has been birth in him that gave him a different look at life. And we established the fact that in life it is the outcome, it is the way you see things that either wins or causes you to win or loss any battle in life.
And David saw Goliath in a certain way, one of the ways he saw is that he looked at Goliath and saw an opportunity for promotion. He saw behind Goliath just like our master Jesus, who looked at the cross and looked beyond the cross and what He saw beyond the cross is a reward. The bible said “Jesus for the joy that was set before Him, He despise the shame of the cross”. So He had to enter into a certain mind frame and all of a sudden the cross seize to be for Him an emblem of shame and became and emblem of opportunity and reward.

And that’s how we need to look at life, when the giants of life comes, we need to look at it as an opportunity to prove our God and it is another opportunity to prove our faith. It is another opportunity to increase in faith and to be promoted in life, because everytime you expend your faith, you end up getting rewarded. In verse twenty six, David said there was something that was motivating him.

In 1 Samuel 17: 26
And David spake to the men that stood by him saying, what shall be done to the man that killeth this philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”

What David was saying was:

1. It is a reproach; this man has defiled not just us but our God.

2. He said who is this uncircumcised philistine, and it is important he used the word uncircumcised. He didn’t say who this Philistine is, he said who is this uncircumcised. And by that word uncircumcised, he gave us an idea of where his power was coming from. He said “ this man is uncircumcised, and we understand the circumcision of the male organ, removing the fore- skin of the male sexual organ was one of God’s covenant rights or mandate for Abraham in Genesis chapter seventeen, for him to enter into covenant with Him.

So David was literally saying, this man that is against us, and this entire nation that is against us, they do not have a covenant with the living God. But he was saying we do, we have a covenant with the living God.

1 Samuel 17: 47
“And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the
Lord’s, He will give you into our hands”.

He is talking to Goliath now, he is answering him back. I believe that is what God wants to demonstrate in all of our lives. Do you know that our lives upon this earth are simply suppose to be a demonstration of covenant? People are suppose to look at us and say how on the earth is that Church thriving, some one should look at our life and say how on earth is that thing happening.
That was the last statement that came out of David’s mouth. After that moment he did not allow Goliath to talk again but the bible said he hasted towards the giants. I have come to understand this, that life is constantly talking to us, whether through people, whether through circumstances, satan sometimes inject thoughts into our mind, thoughts that generates fear, that generates doubts, confusion, unbelieve, concerning our lives, concerning outcome of certain things we are involve in . Life is constantly talking to us. Actually the whole of the economy of the universe with words. So God’s entire universe seen and unseen functions or roll on the basis of spoken words.
We are products of words. You cannot really successful train anybody without words. You can’t train children without words, of cause you train them with action too, but you train them with words, you set their destiny with words. Communication. Can you imagine a world without words? How would it be? So words are the currency for life. Just as we found in the case of Jesus in Mathew chapter 11 when Jesus answered the fig tree because the barrenness of the fig tree had spoken to Him, so the bible said Jesus answered the fig tree. That means inanimate things have a voice, circumstances have a voice, your bank account have a voice, and we have to know the right answer to give.

Romans 8: 31
“What shall we say then say to these things? if God be for us, who can be against us?”

That means the things were speaking, when sickness begins to speak to your body what shall you say, when you are barren or single, what shall you say to these things? Some people are not under any kind of curse but a self inflicting curse. They have so much faith in negativity, how I wish you can turn that to God. It is just as easy to believe God as it is to believe the devil.

1 Samuel 17: 47 “And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the
Lord’s, He will give you into our hands”.

David may not have understood the dynamics of it, because he was just doing it. The Spirit of God allowed it to be documented so that we could learn from it. David may not have understood the dynamics of it but we do. David last word that came out of his mouth set the pace for that battle. He said “All the assemblies shall know that God

does not save with swords and spares, for the battle is the Lord’s and He would give you into our hands”. And that was the last word that came out of this covenant warrior. And these must continually be what comes out of your own mouth. In the face of difficulties, impossibilities, challenges, delay, disappointment. What is coming out of your mouth?
Jesus said in Mathew 12: 37
“For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned”.

By thine words, not by anyone else’s word. You have the last say, your business is who you are, who’s you are and where you are? There is a spirit dynamics operating in this life, the bible says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. If they crack God, they will find Christ in Him, and Christ is God and God is God. There are some prayers you don’t need to pray, when you face some things, you just laugh. That is why understanding is the balm in life. Look at where you are spiritually speaking; your life is hid in Christ and Christ in God. As long as you have not given your will to concend with anything it is not binding on you, so it doesn’t matter what they did or say, the moment you come into Christ it is a different game, all you need to do is dig into the word of God to find out who you are in Christ and ascend to your place.
David said “The battle is the Lords”. The Spirit of God began to show me that phrase. The battle is the Lord is not a phrase everybody can use, it is only the people that are in covenant with Almighty God can use. They are the only ones that have a right to draw from that reservoir.
You will notice in second chronicles chapter twenty, there was another scenario that Jehosphat was at war with about four heathen nations and one rebel Israel nation. They came upon him to consume him and he called a fast of the nation and went before the Lord. Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon a certain prophet and said “you will not need to fight in this battle, set yourself and you will see the salvation of the Lord, For the battle is the Lord’s”.

Judah at that time was the nation walking right with God, Judah just represented about two tribes of Israel, the other ten or nine nations had served idol gods at that time. If you are in Christ, you have a covenant with God. We need to understand the force through which we fight life, outside of Christ we should just start crying because life can be challenging. When you know some things, some things will be different. Your life is hanging on instructions, proverbs chapter four said “He that despises instructions, despises life”. That is where your life is hanging, the answer you give life circumstances. David knew the answer; he said “what shall we say to these things”. People who are taught know what to say, they know haw to handle things. The news may hit little bit but when you go back you hit your rock Christ Jesus, and then you bounce from that rock and begin to talk God word. What is in you would come out. Some believers when they are squeezed to a wall it is what is on the inside that comes out. When you see a man hit with circumstance, he doesn’t know what to say, he will sing all kind of romantic melodies. When there is no word inside, because what is inside of you is going to come out.
“All these assemblies shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spare, for the battle is the Lord’s, He will give you into our hands”. That is a covenant with God can say “the battle is the Lord’s”.
David’s strength to run at Goliath was the fact that he knew he was in covenant with God and that covenant was active. And he knew that at that point he was running out to meet and face that giant, he knew that it was not David doing this, he knew there was a God behind him. David knew it was God that was going to fall that giant.

1 Samuel 17: 47
“And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the
Lord’s, He will give you into our hands”.

That statement has so much covenant implication behind it. As far as covenant is concern, the bible itself is a book of covenant. You know it is divided into the old testament; the word testament really is the word covenant. The bible is a book of Old and new covenant. In our bible, we often see just before the book of Mathew, this is the new testament; but if you are going to be accurate about that you will not put the statement Mathew as a new covenant before the Acts of the Apostles. Why? Because the covenant did not come enforce until Jesus shed His blood, the

new covenant. Until He shed His blood and paid the price for humanity, until He was razed from the death, He went and paid the price on the mercy sit in heaven, and until He stood at the right Hand of Almighty God and God was satisfied with His blood in the altar in heaven. Until that was done , covenant was not yet enforce, until the blood was shed by Jesus and until His blood was accepted in heaven, in the Holiest of all because there is a physical temple in heaven. (It is spiritual but physical).
So the bible is a book of covenant. Now what is a covenant? A covenant is an agreement made between two or more parties, and the purpose of that agreement is when both of those parties have mutual interest, that covenant can be made to preserve their mutual interest, and to help guide them so that no two parties will be cheated. That is the basic covenant. It is made when there are two or more parties, to protect the interest of both parties, to help guide them and steer them until when the get the point were the execute those interests.
We are not just interested in a normal covenant, because a normal covenant may just stand for contracts and agreements. Actually whenever you go and sign a normal contract they call them covenant. You have words drawn out, two parties involved and the go through and agree. But what we are involve in as Christians’ is not just a contract, it is not just any kind of an agreement, it’s a proper covenant, infact, what we are involve in is a blood covenant. There must be some kind of blood speaking over you, in this life it is blood for blood, so there must be a blood speaking over your life. That is why it is criminal for you to mix blood, that is the problem with many people, they don’t teach and instruct people because christainity is a blood thing, you are walking in world, you’ve got to be equipt, there are things going on things going on in the spiritual realm. It is fire for fire, power for power, blood for blood. That’s why people go to church and they are involved in so many kinds of things, because if you’re not taught when push comes to shove and you have a problem, you got to find a way out. You can’t mix it, if not there will be a reaction and you will die, so we’ve got to know these things, we are in a blood covenant.
This was God’s answer to Adam’s fall, because when Adam fell, his spiritual DNA was changed, he imbibed the nature of the devil which sin (spiritual death). It went into his bones and God knew the only way this thing can be dealt with is a blood plant. God knew it. Let’s go Genesis and trace this, because Abraham is always our focus, from him we take our bearings in Christianity because the bible has given him that designation as the father of faith spiritually speaking. In Genesis chapter twelve, God has chosen a man called Abram, and the reason why He chose Abram was because He wanted to use Abram to bring about a physical covenant nation that would be a spring board to Him, to introduce the Christ into the earth.
So He chose a man by the name of Abram, visited him in Genesis chapter Twelve, told him that he should walk with Him, He will make him a great nation, He will bless him and make his name great, etc.

Genesis 15: 1-3
“After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I Am thy
shield and thy exceeding great reward.
And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou hast give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house
is this Eliezer of Damascus.
And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir”.
Some time had pass between Genesis twelve and fifteen. That word exceeding great reward in the actual Hebrew means, I’m your Compensation, your hire, your wages, your rapidly increasing money supply.

Genesis 15: 4 5
“And behold the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, this shall not be thine heir; but he that come forth
out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir”.

I have notice one thing about God, when God tells you something, it is what He tells you that He means. God told Abram out of your own bawls shall be your heir.

Genesis 15: 5-8
“And he brought him forth abroad, and said, look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able
number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
And he believe in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
And He said unto him, I Am the Lord that brought thee out of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to
inherit.
And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?”

This is where covenant came and originated from. Abraham said “how shall I know that you will give me these things “. Abraham could have said that because he did not have precedence, so it was ok for him to ask for that kind of sign. But we have a precedence of faith, we do not ask for signs in the new testament. Abraham was a pagan before God started dealing with him, so he asked this question “how shall I know that I shall inherit the earth” and God said unto him

Genesis 15: 9-16
“And he said unto him; take me a heifer of three years old and a she goat of three years old and a ram of three
years old, and she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young
pigeon.
And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another;
but the birds divided he not.
And when the fowls came down upon the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; lo, a horror of great darkness fell upon
him.
And He said unto Abram, know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs,
and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great
substance.
And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

When Abram asked “how shall I know” God answered him with a covenant right. Here is what God told him to do, bring some certain animals divide them into two and lay the halves on both sides, and the bible said God appeared like a smoking furnace, when a great horror of darkness fell upon Abram, God appeared like a smoking furnace and walked in the mist of those halves. God was instituting with Abraham a covenant ceremony. I wonder why God answered Abraham this way. Because covenant has been one of the ancient right of the human race. God knew that Abraham being a pagan will understand covenant. He needed something that Abraham could identify with, something that will make sense to Abraham to make him know that if God was willing to go through this and establish this, then I know for a certainty that He will bring to pass what He said.
So He instituted covenant right, cut animals in halves, place them on the sides and God represented by that burning furnace began to walk through it. God walked through it.

Genesis 15: 17-18
“And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace,
burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, unto thy seed have I given this land,
from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates.”

That means that the covenant that God made with Abraham was typified by that covenant ceremony.

Genesis 17: 2-14
“And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
And Abraham fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
As for Me, behold, My covenant is with thee, and thou shall be a father of many nations,
Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations
have I made thee.
And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy and thy seed after thee in their generations for an
everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
And I will give unto thee and to thy seed after t5hee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan,
for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
And God said unto Abraham, thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their
generations.
This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; every man child among
you shall be circumcised.
And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin: and it shall be a token or the covenant between me and you.
And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born
in the house, or bought with money or any stranger which in not of thy seed.
He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy with thy money, must need be circumcised: and my
covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his
people; he hath broken my covenant”.

So God came and instituted a covenant in chapter fifteen, and He renewed it in chapter seventeen, He
re- emphasized it in chapter seventeen.
Abram means exalted father and Abraham means father. Abraham means Father of many nations. In our study, we are interested in blood covenant. Blood covenant is a covenant that is sealed or made between two or more parties for the purpose of mutual interest and benefit, but it is sealed by blood. Why is it sealed by God?
Leviticus 17: 11 said “the life of the flesh is in the blood” so when it comes to blood. Blood is a symbol for life. When the blood is in short supply in the human beings system, they say life is threatened. Why did God demand blood to be shad? This is the old covenant coming into force. God raised up a man called Abram and steered into a blood covenant with him. He said cut into pieces two kinds of animal and when he cut them into pieces blood flowed, and God walked in the mist of the blood, represented by a burning lamp and a smoking furnace, and said I have established my covenant with you. And in chapter seventeen, He demanded that Abraham and his seed should

physically circumcise their fore skin round about their male or reproductive organs. Many of us in this days 7
do it to our children when they are small and they can’t remember, but God demanded this of Abraham and his people when they were adult, so blood flowed, there was pain. Do you know why? God wanted to show him something. Abram I want to come into covenant with you and for now these animals that you have cut going to be my part, as far as shedding of blood is concern. I am going to demand of you now to shed your own blood, let our two blood mix and let it be known that I and you have come into eternal covenant.

Now there are implications to covenant. For example most of the ancient rights. Let imagine there are two parties that want to come into covenant, one party is a farming community and the other party is a community of warriors. The farming community and the other party is a community of warriors. The warrior’s obviously have got to eat and the farmers need protection so both parties can come together and say they’re coming into covenant. We will see to it that you are adequately fed and the other p[arty will see to it that both our families and generations will know that we are in covenant one with another.
So they will do what we call the covenant ceremonies similar to what Abraham did here with God. In most cases, some times animals are used, sometimes people take their fingers, slit it and let blood flow from both representative of each family then they gather it up in a place and mix it together, the blood has mixed, that means this families have become one, Why did they use blood? Because the life is in the blood.
Most covenant right (even fetish covenant), blood is used. Blood is symbolic of life. Spirits follow blood. Ignorant people don’t understand that the only covenant you can go into that is safe, is the one you enter into with Almighty God. Any other one, you can’t be safe. When the make that covenant together, what usually happens is that there are words that are declared which is their agreement. Words are spoken, both families bring their proposals and they sit down and deliberate, and they come to an agreement and they speak those words out to the hearing of everybody. These are the words of the covenant, then they slit and mix blood from both family in a cup and the cup bec9omes a covenant cp. Our blood is now mixed, we are eternally entwined together and both members drink it both members of the families, meaning that they are in covenant. That means from this moment we become one. Anything that affects you, affects me.

There are ancient covenant practices and that is why God could do it with Abraham because He knew that would register something in Abraham’s mind. When Abraham circumcised himself and his people based on what God said, He and God had entered into covenant together, and covenant also means that I no longer own myself, everything about my resources my talent, whatever it is, the other person has unlimited access to it. We are bounded together. No wonder other person has unlimited access to it. We are bounded together. No wonder in Genesis twenty two, God appeared to Abraham after Isaac was born ( the promised Child) and now made a demand, and said “ Give me Isaac your son, just incase you don’t know whom I’m talking about, your only son, just incase you still don’t know whom I’m talking about, the one that your heart loves”. Now God had a right to do that because Abraham had willingly entered into covenant with Him. It is a blood covenant. That means Abraham is saying by that covenant God you have unlimited access to my life, whatever is mine belongs to you, whenever you want to call on it you can have it
You know what it works the other way too. Whatever belongs to you Almighty God belongs to me, anytime I need it I can call on it. so God Called on it. God is not just trying to be sadistic, He knew what He was doing, He made the highest demand on Abraham now had the right to make the highest demand on Him. And because Abraham yielded, Later on in Genesis chapter twenty two God said “because you have done this thing and given me your son, your only son, from this moment this covenant is fully released to you and the benefits of it”. And do you know why? It was Abraham’s obedience in releasing Isaac that eventually calls for Jesus Christ. See, God is not interested in your discomfort. He called for it by asking for Abraham for Abraham son, knowing that Abraham now had a full right and the revelation to call for something, His own son. Now this is all a redeemsion package. Do you know why? Because Abraham was not willing to go back on His pledge of blood, God did not go back on His pledge.

We are in covenant with God, but I want you to notice something about all this statement God has made in Genesis fifteen and seventeen, this is the old covenant; this is how Israel as a nation came into force. When David stood in front of Goliath this is what he was thinking about. He knew that there was a blood covenant between Israel and Almighty God, and that blood covenant meant that as long as they kept the terms of the covenant whoever touches Israel touches Almighty God. That was why he said “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine”. Our blood has been shed. We have kept our covenant with the living God, everything that belongs to Him, belongs to us. So we should

know that when we are coming against Goliath, it is not us coming against Goliath, It is Almighty God against Goliath.

I have come to understand that any body that picks a fight with me, picks a fight with God, the issue is I’m I right with God? You are in Christ and Christ in you, once you are right with God no evil can penetrate. People are wrongly thought so fear makes them open the door to the devil. The devil is not as you think he is. This covenant I’m talking about is the old covenant made in the flesh with the blood of Abraham and his physical seed and the blood of animal. The old covenant came into force. Do you know that it is on the strength of the old covenant God said in Exodus 15: 26 “I AM the God that healeth thee” not the new covenant, God said in Exodus 23: 25-26 “None will be barren in your land; neither shall you cast your fruit or seed before your time”. On the covenant He said “I will bless your bread and water if you serve Me, I will take sickness away from you”. It was on the strength of animal sacrifice and human being blood (physical circumsion). It was on the strength of this that Israel came out in Psalms 105: 6 “they came out with silver and gold and there was none feeble amongst them”. On this strength; Israel never lost one war as long as they were walking right with God that fell the walls of Jericho, which brought miracles from the hands of Moses to deliver Israel out of Egypt, because God had sworn to Abraham
“Your seed is going to be for 30yrs in captivity, I will bring them out with a strong and mighty hand”, on this strength God said “I will fulfill your days, with long life will I satisfy you and show my salvation”
What does it mean to be satisfied?

The problem is most of us want to play God. God told Abraham in Genesis fifteen and seventeen, I’m going to make an eternal covenant with you and your seed. He never said seeds (plural) He said seed unto all generations. I will make an everlasting covenant; it must go beyond this physical realm to the spiritual. When God was actually making a covenant with Abraham and raising the nation of Israel, what He was seeing in His eye was a vehicle to bring forth Christ the Redeemer.
Do you know why blood flowed in this covenant? Because blood is symbol of life and God wanted to make it very certain and clear that the only thing that should make either of us not fulfill our covenant obligation to one another is that we seize to live. Man can seize to live in the flesh, but God is an eternal Spirit, God never dies, God exist forever. Man was made in His image so man can exist as well.

Galatians 3: 15
“Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; though It be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be comfirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto”.

When God was getting into covenant with Abraham, He was not seeing a physical man or a physical nation. Even though the covenant applied at that time was the old covenant, it was restricted to a group of people who were Abraham’s seed in the physical, but God was not seeing Abraham seed in the physical, God was seeing Christ. God’s idea was to raise up a nation of people upon this earth that will obey Him so that through them He will bring forth Christ. That is why the bible did not say of seeds to one but seed to one.

Galatians 3: 29
“And if ye be Christ’s, then ye are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

If you are born again, then you are Christ. God’s idea all along was to bring Christ to the scene. The actual covenant made between Abraham and Abraham’s seed which is Christ, that was what God was intending all along. That covenant was a physical group of people but in God’s mind who He wanted to enter covenant with is Christ. That is why the bible said “You will not leave my soul in hell, neither will you allow my Holy one to see corruption”. He said “a seed shall serve Him (that is Jehovah) and it shall be counted to Him for a generation”. So the real generation God was looking at was not that Israelite nation, it was not Isaac; the real seed God was looking for was Christ. Abraham’s obedience in given up Isaac when God wanted him was what called for the release of Christ into this earth. And when Christ came, the bible said in Hebrew chapter two “surly He did

not take upon Himself the nature of angels but He took upon His self the seed of Abraham”. That means Christ is the original seed, He’s the one that God originally wanted to make a covenant with. Abraham is dead and

gone, many descendants of Israelites are dead and gone but He said it is an everlasting covenant. You can only make an eternal covenant with an eternal one. So God could only make covenant with Himself ‘Christ’. It is Christ He was looking for.
The bible said God said to Abraham, I’M making an everlasting covenant with you and your seed, and that seed according to Galatians 3: 15 is Christ. That is why Christ is God’s answer to mans fall. It was Abraham covenant with God that gave God the power to raise up a nation that will obey Him and through them bring this seed
‘Christ’ into the earth. In Psalms 110 “sit down at my right hand after He had fulfill redeemsion work and I will make your enemies your footstool”. That is the original seed that covenant was made unto. He covenanted before Christ left heaven to come to this earth. In psalms sixteen, he said “You will not leave Your Holy one in hell. Neither will you leave Him to see corruption” Jesus said I Am going to died to redeem mankind and bring you back to your full state, He said when I come and died, I Am relaying on You Father to rise me back from the dead and give me back my former estate. God said I covenant with You, go and die, I will rise You back again, You will redeem mankind and I will give you your former estate. Psalms sixteen was a prophecy concerning Jesus and he said “God raised up a seed and counted it to many generations”. He said “who shall declare His generation”. Do you know that when we come into Christ, the only generation God is looking for is not a physical nation called Israel, it is a generation called Christ. We are a Christ generation. “If ye be in Christ then are ye are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise”. Because Abraham was so faithful in the old covenant to his blood, God became faithful in the new covenant to shed His own blood, and when the blood of Christ fell, When God shed His blood on behalf of a human race, He fulfill His own covenant to Abraham, the bible said it is really only in Christ the nations of the earth will be counted. That is the seed that God is looking for.
The blood of Christ is Gods part in the covenant. That blood has been shed. The bible said through the shedding of that blood, redeemsion was obtained for us. When David went against Goliath, He went in the physical. Goliath was a physical giant. Now that we are in Christ, we have entered into eternal covenant. Because we are in Christ, we benefit from the covenant that God made with Christ “sit down at My right Hand until I make all your enemies your footstool”. The blood has been shed for us. When we have this understanding, it makes us a different kind of a covenant warrior upon the earth. All these little things that some ministries have to draw people is not new testament revelation. You don’t use satanic oppression to build a ministry; you don’t bring saints to teach them how to pray against the devil, that is not the new covenant. The new covenant teaches you who you are in Christ, where you are in Christ, what have been done for you by Christ and showing you how to operate in that light.
There is an eternal blood that has been shed for you, it is the blood of God Himself, and you are benefiting from the covenant God made with Christ. When you come into Christ, you benefit from that same covenant. Every covenant has operating procedures, it’s the words of this covenant in Israel under the old covenant, anytime the people gathered the law was read, the words of the covenant were declared. Deuteronomy 29: 9 said “do ye all the words of this law or covenant and ye shall proper in all you do”. What is a covenant? A covenant is executed by words; words are what show us how to operate in any covenant. Psalms 89:34 said “My covenant shall I not break neither shall I alter the word that has come out of my mouth”. So every Christian’s responsibility is to

learn how to function in the new covenant. In the new covenant as it was in the old. The foundation of
the new covenant is obedience, obedience to the written word of God, obedience to the prompting of God’s Spirit to your heart, faith in the written word of God, faith in the prompting of God’s Spirit to your heart. That is how you operate in this covenant. That is why when we come to church we listen to the word of God, we don’t just get excited, but there must be a time when w sit down and listen to the words of covenant. Telling us who we are, telling us who God is for us, telling us what He is in us, giving us a ready word for the moment. These are the words of the covenant, when we understand some things it will change the way we pray, it will change the way we operate in life, it is the absolute truth.

In this new covenant, the believer has been placed in Christ Jesus, benefits from every standing that Christ Jesus Himself has, everything that Christ Jesus did in His death, burial and resurrection belongs to the believer. When

satan was defeated by the Lord Jesus Christ at resurrection, every believer has a right to satan defeat, but let me tell you this, obedience is the watch word for both the old and new testament. You cannot walk in disobedience to God and enjoy the benefits of the covenant, even though you are an heir. That is why you can not mix these things

because this is blood issue. when we come to the new covenant, you need to hear words like Romans 8: 37 “ in all these things, we are more than conquerors”. These are the things we carry into battle. when life with it’s various complexities comes against us, we fall back on our covenant. We remind ourselves that an eternal blood has been shed for us, not blood of bulls and goats, but an eternal blood. Many times when the devil threatens me in some way, I sit down and began to laugh, I say, can you cross the blood line, when I go to that dimension I know that I am a thousand times bigger, at the time that I switch from looking from my own resources to my resources in Him, I switch to the operation of the covenant and I begin to look at myself through those eyes and it began to become a different story.
This is what made David separate. Even though the old covenant was established with the blood of bulls and goats, and human circumcision (the shedding of human blood), Christ came in Mathew 5: 17 and said “I have not come to do away with the old law, I have come to fulfill if”. In other words, I Am the fulfillment of the old
covenant, I Am the upgrade in the new. Hebrew chapter 8: 6 said “we have a covenant with Christ that has been establish upon better promises”. So David could come against Goliath on the strength of the physical covenant, relaying on the blood of bulls and goats and human circumcision, but the bible said “we are not of the circumcision, who worship God in the flesh, we worship God in the Spirit, our praises is not of men, it is of God, our confidence is not in the flesh”. Romans 2: 28-29 “our circumcision is not an outwardly one but an inward one”. When we become born again, we become regenerated, inside of us our spirit man becomes circumcised, we come into Christ. When we are joined into Christ our life is hid in Christ and Christ in God. No wonder the bible said “of His fullness have we receive and grace lavished and heap upon grace”. Heap of grace and favour, and when we understand this, we become a different kind of covenant warrior. We spend less time on the devil and more time on our covenant.
My life is hid in Christ and Christ in God. Obedience to the word of God and a life obedience to God execute that covenant. Now let me tell you why many believers don’t enter into the fullness of this covenant, they are living 50/50. You know what covenant says “God I belong to You and You belong to me”. Do you know that really God don’t have the advantage, we are the once with the advantage, God only delight is to give us all He has but He cannot do it unless we give Him the chance to. Many believers don’t understand covenant, if you understand covenant and what it is, you will believe that marking yourself present in church is doing the pastor a favour. When you understand some things, some things change. No wonder David amongst thousands of people, who had a physical covenant with God, was the only one who could rise up. And like it was in David days, that is how it is in this days, we all have a covenant that we benefit from in Christ, but very few are willing to fully obey God and take the benefits of this covenant. Some people would rather just make God one Santa clause they talk to once in a while, when they are in trouble, they come and God have mercy on them, then they go back, give themselves to God on sunday, the rest of the week they live for themselves. They don’t understand the reality of covenant that everything you are and have belongs to God and that as a living sacrifice He can pore out his best upon you. At that time you have given everything to God, satan no longer has a place. Jesus was talking upon the earth,

He said “the evil one cometh and he has nothing in me, everything I Am belongs to the Father God” 11
that was Jesus life and that is how our lives are suppose to be.
When life shoots it hardest shots at you, remember that you are in a blood covenant. Somebody gave His blood for you, no wonder Romans 8: 32 said “if God did not spare His own son, how shall He not with Him, freely give us all things”. When satan say it can’t come to pass, you say “you are too late, God Himself shed His blood for me and inside of that blood nothing has been withheld from me”, And you know on the strength of that covenant and obedience to God, you can now say “ the battle belongs to God and you can go to sleep”. That is the mystery and privilege we have as believers. Over your lives an eternal blood has been shed. In the law of covenant, the lower covenant bows to the higher covenant. The word of God is power. Anybody that is operating in an anointing that does not start from God’s word is no anointing. Are you in obedience? Are you living right? You may be living right but have you open the door of fear to the devil by believing and speaking fear? Because when you refuse to speak fear, you shut the door on the devil. Shut the door on the devil by rehearsing God’s word.

THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’S (3)

1 Samuel 17: 1- 11

“1 Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle, and were gathered together at Shochoh, which belongeth to Judah, and pitched between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephesdammim.
2 And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array against the Philistines.
3 And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them.
4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.
5 And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass.
6 And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders.
7 And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.
8 And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.
9 If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.
10 And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
11 When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.

Quite a few of us may know the background of this story, 1 Samuel chapter 17. Maybe many of us were taught in secondary school about how David and Goliath came into battle together. This story has been ringing in my heart, as we consider this title “The Battle Is The Lord’s”. And I began to see from this passage of scripture what the Spirit of God was putting in my life, lessons from the life of David. Israel and the nations of the Philistines were at war. And there was a face to face confrontation here, Israel on one side and the philistines on the other side. And as the story goes, there was a champion that came out from amongst the Philistines. And the bible says, his name was Goliath of Gath. In height almost ten feet and Goliath said, lets make this thing simple, you guys are Israelites and we are Philistines. I am standing out on behalf of Israel and let us represent our two nations and let us come into confrontation. The one who over powers the other and destroys him will be said to have taken the day for the nation he represents.
You can pull present day examples or relevant from this passage of scriptures, Goliath standing as a giant facing the nation of Israel (God’s covenant people). Goliath could represent any challenge, any test across the spectrum of life that believers face when the go through life. The truth of the matter is this, if you are going to achieve any form of relevance in this life, it is because you had and face and conquered a Goliath. Here he stood in front of God’s people. Defiling them, defiling God and the covenant that they had with God, and we said one or two things about giants is that they have a nature and character about them:-

1. The first thing about giants is that they speak; they have a loud mouth. They want your attention. Goliath was speaking. The bible said forty days and night; he would come out and say the same words. He filled Israel with the same words, traits and intimation. So they speak. Whatever nature of a challenge it is in this life whether it is a human being involved in it or not, circumstances have a voice, challenges have a voice, lack, sickness, pain, disappointment, delay, they all have a voice. The bible said in Mark 11, when Jesus was passing a fig tree near Bethany, He looked at the fig tree and there was no fruit in it. And Jesus answered the fig tree and said “no man eats fruit of thee, here after forever”. The bible doesn’t use language just anyhow; the bible said Jesus answered the fig tree. Jesus wasn’t a crazy man, He is the creator of the world, and He was strapped up in a physical human jacket, if Jesus answered the fig tree that means the fig tree talked to Him, the barrenness of the

fig tree talked to Him. Sometimes situations have a way of talking to you. You know what a Goliath want to do, it wants to get your attention and it wants to present itself as invincible and unconquerable in your life.
A goliath wants you to come in the same mind frame or psychic. Lack want’s to show you, I’m unconquerable; sickness wants to show you I’m unconquerable. Whatever it is that wants to stand as a Goliath in your life, it speaks and the purpose of its speech is to intimidate or to threaten. When a Goliath stands in front of you, what it

is trying to tell you is that you can’t get pass me. Its further purpose is to generate fear in you, it’s so important to understand this, you can not ever go through life and become without courage. When your courage is removed, your Spirit is removed. So you see people, you are talking to them, you are trying to show them and encourage them to build them up, to push them forward but you just see that somehow, you look in their eyes and you look at there disposition and all the spirit is gone out of them. do you know that you can have everything in life to succeed, but if you don’t have the spirit or will or courage, all those weapon’s will be of no value.

Because you see, goliaths understand that wars are not won from natural circumstances, they know that. Satan even knows that. That you don’t win in life from the invincible dimension on ground in the natural. We win in life from the invincible dimension. Courage in an invincible force, it has physical manifestation but it is an invincible force. A cowardice is an invincible force, it has physical manifestation but it is an invincible force. Even when you have a good product to sell as a sales man, if you can’t convince yourself and you don’t have a convincing pitch, you can’t convince somebody else to buy it. You may have a good product and your product may be bitter than the other the other persons own, but if you are not convince about it for yourself and you are not confident in yourself. They are invincible forces, fear is an invincible force but it has visible manifestations.
One thing we establish about goliath is that; when you see a goliath it is a prophesy to you concerning your future, because when you look at the size of contention in your life or any area of your life. It is simply a revelation of what God thinks about you and the amount of reward He has prepare for you, because our rewards in life are directly connected to the problem we solve or the giants we conquer. You will not go higher than the giants you conquer. That is why Numbers 13 and 14, God was given an example there of how the children of Israel were going to the promise land. Their promise land was Canaan; the physical place. Our promise land are the promises of God (our lives, destiny, all that it entales in life). And it’s said that Moses because of the sin that he sinned against God. God said he will not enter the promise land. Now Joshua was the one to bring the people into the promise land. Now the border of the promise land that greeted Israel was giants. Invincible cities, cites that they could not take outside of God’s help. Seasoned and skilled men of war. The Children of Israel were not men of war, all there lives they had been in Egypt. They have been slaves building somebody else’s city; don’t expect that if somebody would put you in captivity, he would teach you military skills, he will do it, because you cold rise up against him. Si they were kept away from military skill, restrictions were put on them. In every dimension in life, they were living at a disadvantage state but how many of you know that when God comes, He fill up your disadvantage. They were not men military skill but God pitch them against the greatest warriors of the day, to prove to them that the battle was not theirs but His. So I’m telling you this, that you have not yet gotten to your inheritance, until you face something that is bigger than you until everything in your gut is telling you this is bigger than me, if God does not help me here I’m finished. Canaan is described by its absolute invincibility outside of God. How do you know that you have come to the border of your Canaan? When you face a situation and you tell yourself; you know that invincible voice in you, you preach to yourself, that if God doesn’t do it, I am finish. Start clapping for yourself, because you’ve arrived at Canaan. So giants tell us that we are here (Canaan), they indicate to you that you are at Canaan. They set to you God looks at you. If you want to know what God thinks about you, look at what you are confronted with, if you want to know the potentials in you look at the Lord Jesus Christ, if you ever find yourself in a desert, know that there is water inside of you to make that desert come alive. That is what giants do, that is what they are. They bible said in Ecclesiastes 9:11 “The race is not to the swift”, in other words, we establish that fusion of time and chance births opportunity. What happens in life that moves us forward is that we are given opportunities. Time and chance happeneth to them all. The truth of the matter is, if ever anyone becomes anything in this life, it is because time and chance happened to them. Everybody has a time and a chance, because the bible cannot lie. Time and chance is working for everybody, opportunity is working for everybody. Somebody said this, which is a true statement that many people miss

opportunities; because the opportunities do not come in the packaging that they want them to come in. do you know that service is an opportunity? This word Opportunity is something we must understand, because some people think everything about opportunity is pleasant, but it not so, in fact most times, the greatest opportunity are found in the middle of crisis times. Most times on the curves of change or unsettlement is where growth takes place. Growth or real strives in life don’t take place, until somebody’s comfort zone shaken up. An opportunity to work is an opportunity of increase. So opportunities are all around us, but we need an anointing and an

understanding to understand what an opportunity is. Time and chance happeneth to them all”. Opportunity has come to everybody, it is not just because somebody calls you that opportunity has come, where you are right now is your greatest opportunity. You’ve got to see that some people are looking for something that does not exist. God does not work in a vacuum, where you are right now is your greatest opportunity. it is in the place where you have failed tat God wants to raise you up. Many times, you don’t discern the opportunity, your greatest challenge is your greatest opportunity. Understand when promotion knocks at your door. It is not always when people smile at your face that promotion has come. Promotion must times is to another place. You have exhausted the benefits of your present season.

These are vital life lessons from the life of David concerning how to handle giants and conquer them no matter what that giant is. The Lord asked me one important question “what made David different”? Does God just wake up one mourning and decide that this man is going to be a special person? Religion may teach you that but that is not how God does it because God is not a respecter of persons. What made David different? What distinguishes him? You can find these answers and they are plainly written in these verses of scripture. You can find out how you can become outstanding in your own life and place. Do you know that their were thousands of soldiers under Saul, apart from soldiers, there were those who were attending to the officers there who were not regular soldiers. But what made David standout amongst them? Do you know that every one of them (Israelites were a covenant conscious people; they will not carry anyone to battle who is not in covenant with them. So even if you are a foreigner, you have to enter into covenant, be circumcised and practice their laws before the carry you to battle).
So everybody there that day was a covenant person, they all had the same God as David. Any of those thousands of Israelites could have done what David did that day because they were all covenant people, they were not different from David, everything David had that day, they had. They had the same God, covenant, and they all had the potentials and backing that David enjoyed. But God is not a respecter of persons. Acts 10: 34-35, they bible said when Peter was preaching to Cornelius and his family when the spirit of the Lord fell on the them, peter when he was reporting it back to the Jews said “Now I know of a truth, that God is no respecter of persons, but anybody, anywhere or nation who feareth God and doth righteously is accepted by Him”. But you see, I have learnt this, what is it that separates people in life? What is it that determines how far individuals grow? Religion has taught us that God is a random blesser. God just wakes up one day and determines who gets bless and decides how far you can go in this life. It has taught us to believe in faith of the sovereignty of God, but the bible teaches us differently. In 1 Corinthians 3:9, the bible says, we are laborers together with God. That means, we have something to do with how far we go with God, how much of God’s blessing we enjoy. The bible teaches us in 2 Corinthians 6:, that we are workers together with God. In Joshua 1:8, God was talking to Joshua about the promise land, He said “ this book of law shall not depart out of your mouth but thou shall meditate upon it day and night, that you may be careful to observe to do according to all that is there in, then you shall make your way prosperous, then shall you have good success or be able to deal wisely in all the affairs of life”. God expects us to be responsible for some aspect of our lives. But I have notice this, that certain things distinguished David, and they are not hard things that many of us know but have not consciously taken to heart. Outside of the thousands of Israelites that were there that day, all of them had the same God David had, covenant and potential to enjoy the same backing with God; it’s like a picture of the church today. It’s like a local gathering of believers of the entire kingdom of God. God does not just select some people randomly and bless.
The day that Jesus was passing by blind Bartimaeus, Jesus had no plans to minister that day. His face was set somewhere else. But He said, “Someone has called my name”. Blind Bartimaeus said “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me”. They said they wanted to keep him quiet but he said no, he’s not going to keep quiet, based on what I have been hearing, the rumors I have been hearing, if this guy is passing by me now, this guy is passing by

me now, this is my divine opportunity”. Same thing with the woman with the issue of blood. She decided what was her day, when her faith came alive, she said “this is my day” she made her appointment with Jesus.
Thank God Jesus was not like our presidents of this world, that they can post you whenever they want. But I have notice two things that distinguished David that day; the first thing was his mindset and mentality, not the clothes or the guchi perfume he wore. How many of you know that when you receive an evil report or sickness strikes and there is a need for you to use your faith, at that material point in time what you are wearing makes no difference at all. David mindset, set him apart, his mentality was the window through which he saw things.

The bible said in Proverbs 23:7 “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he’. Your mind is the door way to your heart. You think into your heart. In Proverbs 4:23 “guide your heart will all diligence, above all guiding your heart, for out it springs out the issues of life”. You want to conquer diseases, life, rise above frustration, your heart must be strong. What is the window to your heart? Your thoughts, what you ponder on consistently will eventually drive into your heart and become a reality in which you live. As a man thinketh into his heart; your thought are the passage into your heart, so when you see a mans heart is weak, his heart is a coward because of how he has been thinking, he allowed situation, the devil, people, to intimidate him and to cast upon him there own image concerning his life. That is witchcraft. Witchcraft is not juju; juju is the works of the flesh, witchcraft manifest in three ways:
i) intimidation
ii) domination
iii) manipulation
So when you see people casting an image on you, trying to show you through words and actions that you are nothing, your life means nothing, you can’t amount to anything in life, that is an act of witchcraft and it is intimidation. Whenever I see intimidation, I take my stand because it is the devil working through human beings. It is the devil speaking directly through your mind, when you are intimidated it is a goliath, I take my stand against intimidation because that is the work of the flesh and that is intimidation, that thing wants to turn you to a coward. Have you notice that once you give in one time, satan will work it because his aim is to destroy you completely.

2. Was his attitude; the spirit that he carried. The bible said in 2 Corinthians 4:13 “ We then having the same spirit of faith, as it is written, I have believed, therefore have I spoken, we also believe therefore we speak”. That is how the Spirit of God operates. That word spirit is not the Holy Spirit or demons or an angel, that word is the attitude. Ephesians 4: 23, the bible says, we should be renewed as new creatures in Christ. We are born again now but we should now be renewed in the spirit and attitude of our mind. We should carry a fresh mental attitude. You know I can see the shape of your heart and mind from your face. When I see a man heart cast down, it is his spirit that is cast down. When I see a man square his shoulders, it is his spirit that is alert. But we should not square our shoulders because circumstances look good, only one thing should make us square our shoulders, the word of the living God. Jesus said in Mathew 4:4 “man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God”. That is what strengthens a man’s spirit. David mindset and attitude, the spirit he had, distinguished him. And his attitude converted to words and actions, you can never speak or act consistently beyond your spiritual attitude level. Your consistent words and the way you consistently act, are simply a revelation of your inner attitude. So you wanna change things, you must change your attitude, if you wanna change your attitude you must change your mentality, to change your mentality, you must feed on some thing different. Your spiritual diet will produce your spiritual attitude. Do you know why some people are basically lazy in life, because the have this attitude that God blesses whoever He will, I don’t have anything to do with it, have you heard this statement “ In God’s time change”. That is a religious statement. It is not just time, that is a half truth, and it is a half truth that will kill you. When satan wants to kill you, he will not bring a whole lie, he will give some truth and eject you with a lie. It is not if time comes, time will only respond to you based on your posture in the spirit. That statement is faith related. If you are using your faith and believe you have receive, then it is just a matter of time, but if you are not using your faith, time will just keep going and you will be going

with time. So you better know what you believe. But you see one thing led to another, your mindset or mentality will produce your outlook.

David mindset or mentality and attitude separated him, and his attitude and mentality converted to his word and action. That is the window through which we see life. Because of David’s mindset and his mentality, when he came to the battle field, he saw something nobody else saw, from the commander in chief to the last of the troops, to everybody there that is in covenant with God, that had the same God with him, that had the same covenant with him, that had the same potential backing with him, they were doing nothing with it. 40 days and nights, satan was harassing them through goliath, but you know what happened, David came into the camp he saw something different, he had the same thing going for him that they had going for them, vice-versa, but David was coming

from somewhere else. And when he heard goliath, because he had the right mentality and attitude: everybody saw that this was the end of Israel, but David heard something different and began to ask a different question. I can imagine David on the battle field talking to his brothers and when he heard the intimidating words, do you know what question he asked? “ what shall be done to the man who will defeat this giant” do you know why” David came to the camp and saw an opportunity, that giant to him was the opportunity he had been asking for. God had done the speaking to him in his private place; He didn’t need to speak to him again. When he came face to face with that giant, he said this must be the mentality interpreted to him; this must be that; that God is talking to me about, this must be that breakthrough, that season of completion that God has been talking to me about. It is in the face of that giant. Because that question was not really a selfish one, David understood something that it is behind that giant his honour and reward is. All of them saw the end of there life, but David said, this is my reward that has come to me. What was responsible for David’s mindset and attitude; just one thing, knowledge. David knew something the others didn’t know, I know what you know from the way you act and behave. You can sit down and quote the whole bible to me, but I know what you really know, when I look at how you maneuver when goliath comes against you. You can sit down and quote the whole thing and do the whole christainy talk, but I know whether or not you know the word of God, how you maneuver when the challenges of life comes. That is why the body of Christ needs to be taught not shouted at.

Daniel 11:32b “they that do know their God would be strong” they that do know their God is a personal knowledge and experience with Him.
Hosea 4:6 “my people are destroy for lack of knowledge” David had knowledge of God, not just theory but a practical knowledge of God. He applied that knowledge against the lion and bear in the wilderness. Now I ask another question, where did David get the knowledge of God? This knowledge I’m talking about is an experiential knowledge. It is good to be taught the word of God like this, but that is not enough teaching, the word of God like this is the start, that is why the bible said, it is the doers of the word of God that are bless. When you go home and practice the word and you get one little victory no body can take away that knowledge so the next one that comes you know how to apply. Let me use this basic principle and God keeps building you like that, that is why the hearers and the doers are bless, not just the hearer. Hearers are one half of it but doers are the second half. Where did David get this experiential knowledge of God? You know as I studied, I was surprise that the answer was a place of separation. Now remember that Jesse David’s father had eight sons. David was the eight, he was a child of an Ilegimate affair, he was the kind of person that nobody wanted around the house, because he resented his father shame to his father. So he always wanted David away from his place. That was why when Samuel called him he forgot he had another son in the wilderness, he said no, it is this seven, and Samuel said no, after a while God told him that none of this seven are the ones, don’t you have another son? He said ‘ I have one. He is in the fields taking care of the sheep”. So that place they put him in the fields, was a place of rejection and seclusion. You don’t get to know God in good times, any knowledge of God you know in good times is a plastic knowledge. You have not been proven.

David learnt it in a place of separation, and seclusion. You see that place where you think is a place of rejection is your altar. That place where it looks like it is not working out, that is your altar, that is where you generate power that is where you see how big your God is, that is where you know you have a God that can make a desert into a

water garden. That is how you know you have a God who can sustain you at all times. When did David learn this Knowledge? David was not quoting scriptures now, all of those people could quote the torah; if I had time I would have proven it that before Israel went to war in Deuteronomy it was a direction that the Priest should come before them and say “is there anyone afraid before you”, read the words of the law to him, do not be afraid as you go into battle. So Saul and the soldiers, when goliath started speaking, they left that law (Torah). They stopped reading the torah and started listening to goliath.
So when did David learn? In the place of seclusion and rejection.
There are at least three types of separation that you can experience:-
i) Circumstances sometimes can separate you.
ii) Your decisions most times will separate you.
iii) God’s word has the potential of separating you.

Those are three basic separations we experience sometimes, because of the circumstance you are in, you are legitimately incapable of doing things, though you have the will to do it. The circumstance want to imprison you, sometimes because of where you know you are going, you separate yourself. Paul the apostle said God separated me from my mothers’ womb, and I now went to Arabia and I spent sometime there, and I came back from Arabia and dwelth three years in Damascus, then I went up by revelation, to go and see Peter and the rest of the apostles to communicate the gospel that has been given to me. So after God called and separated him, he knew he required some separation. So sometimes because of where you are going, you begin to separate yourself, not because of what God told you, you just know. I can’t hang around with this crowd and friends again because of where we are going. Sometimes the separation even comes close amongst christaindom. This people are not going the way I’m going, they are not speaking my language, so anytime I go into their presence, I end up losing all my spiritual investments, so I stay away because of where I’m going. And then, the highest separator of all is Gods’ word. Jesus said in John 17:17 “sanctify by Thy truth, Thy word is truth”. When you being to get into the word of God, it will start changing the way you think. It will change your entire approach in life. When you get into the word of God and get deep to it, you will believe that toy is not suppose to have anything but the very best, you will begin to actually believe that there is nothing impossible to you and your God. When you believe in the word of God, it will separate you from some kind of mediocrity. You will not be able to tolerate some things again, the word of God will kill your taste for the medioca, and it will kill your taste for the average.

David; it was his rejection, that place that they put him, that separated him. It was clear to him that, his dad did not want to identify with him. And because of that, his brothers also took advantage of that and the put him down in a place. Satan may have thought that he has put you in a place in that circumstance but that is your altar. That is the place where you are suppose to know God. That failure, that rejection, is your altar. That is the place you will train to become an eagle. When you get out of that place, you say bye bye to that forever. That is the places of your training that is where you know God. That is where you learn how to pray, where you study the word of God. That is when you come to a place where you tell yourself, all this television I’ve been watching is not helping me, it is time to face God. That is where David learnt that mindset, which is where that prophetic Spirit came on him, where he learnt to operate in praise and worship. That is where divine revelation started to come.

Proverbs 18: 1
‘’My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother”
The knowledge of God you need to succeed in life with, you can’t find it on the surface. If everyday we have to be begging you to come to church, you are not there yet, there must come a time in your life where you understand that this is your life, nothing will stop you. Most christains have not understood that yet. That is why the bible is still a dead book, that is why they don’t see anything. They have too many options and you are using them, so God is maybe number 3 or 4 along the way. I’m telling you by the word of the Lord, that you should turn your afflictions into your altar seeking God. That place where you are in your altar, it is your greatest responsibility. It is in that place God wants to teach you haw to get out, when you get out you will stay out and you will help others out. That is a place God wants to make an eagle. That is where David got his revelation from, his ability to maneuver from that, which is why when David came out of that place, and came into that battle

field, he saw something different; that guy was filled with a different spirit. When everybody saw a goliath, he saw his reward, his opportunity.
Now I want to tell you three questions that David asked, that everyone of us will have to ask in the face of our goliath, and the answer to this questions will determine how far we would go. When you face a goliath just like David did, there where three basic questions he asked:-

1. The first question he asked is found in 1 Samuel 17:26
“And David spake to the men that stood by him saying, what shall be done to the man that killeth this philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”

His mentality, attitude and outlook made him ask a different question from what everybody else was asking. Do you know what Saul and all the other soldiers were asking? “Who shall deliver us from goliath?” David came based on the knowledge of God that he gleaned from his secret place; he asked this question “What shall be done to the man who killeth this philistine?” I know what that question revealed, it revealed David ability to discern opportunity reward. In that secret place he had his senses alive, so when he came everybody saw a giant but David saw an opportunity for a reward. David said “this is my time, my time has come to me now” what kind of thinking is that? That the greatest conflict your nation is facing is the greatest opportunity of that individual. David saw goliath and said “this is my time, it is simply time for me to conquer this things, at the other end of my conquest is my reward”. He had king senses in the presence of God to think right straight, instead of challenge, see opportunity.

3. He asked in verse 26
“26 And David spake to the men that stood by him saying, what shall be done to the man that killeth this philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
The second question revealed David knowledge of the covenant. “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine”. This man does not have a covenant with God, we do. The living God is behind us, who is behind him? Let me tell you at worse, it is the defeated devil that is behind it. This battle you are in, whatever it maybe, it has already been fought and won, satan is a defeated foe. We have inside information about that, though he may shout and roar, but he is defeated. David said this man does not have a covenant with the living God, I do, because when I step into this grounds, the battle is no longer mine, it is for Jehovah that behind me, and if I am doing my bit then it is not my might but the force of Jehovah that is coming up against him.
I usually like to ask myself and locate myself when I come into life, I’m I right with God? I’m I on a platform with God? If I am, then I’m going to sleep, because ,this thing is not coming against Dunka Gomwalk, it is coming against Almighty God, to understand and discern his knowledge of His covenant. Everybody else had a covenant with God, but they had no respect for it, fear had made them loose their respect for it, fear had made them loose their respect for the covenant. But David came out of that secret place, and he told himself, look, this man is uncircumcised, you guys remember that everybody here has a covenant with God, this man does not.

3. The third question he asked was the answer to his brother Eliab in verse 28 – 29
“28 And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? And with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
29 And David said, what have I now done? Is there not a cause?”

It revealed David ability to know that when it came to the day of opportunity, he will not listen to anybody or allow anybody to hold him down. Could be elder brother, mother, father, whoever it is comes to my time of opportunity, I know that my time has come; nobody’s comments will hold me down. Is there not a cause? What is the cause? The cause is defeating this giant. When you live in the secret place like David did, you will come to a

place in your life that nobody would be able to talk you out of God’s blessings, out of having the best in life, out of the victory that you know belongs to you. And when you begin to get to that place, you know that goliath is down.

Three questions David asked “what shall be done to the man which killeth this Philistine”, revealing his ability to discern his opportunity and reward, seeing inside of the giant his reward and his opportunity.
Question number 2, “who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defile the armies of the living God” revealing David’s knowledge of covenant. He understood the fact that he had a covenant with God, whatever comes against him, is really coming against Almighty God.
Question number three “what have I now done, is there not a cause”, revealing his ability to discern that when his time of promotion has come, he will not let anybody stop him from enjoying what belongs to him”
Do you know why? There are people who are gonna want to talk you out of it. If I had listen to people I wouldn’t have started out in ministry or done so many things I wanted to do in my life, I remember when I first learnt the word of God the day I understood it now. Several years ago when I acme into contact with this and really understood it, I have come into contact with this kind of word before, but I never really had the revelation of it but I began to get revelation of it in 1986, when I got a hold of it, I knew this was what I have been looking for all my life and from that day, I made up my mind, nobody is going to stop me from getting and developing in this word. When I had money, I invested in books and tapes, I asked questions, I pursued it because somehow I came to know that if I get this thing, I have laid hold upon my life.
Three questions David asked. And because of this questions that he asked, looked at how it positioned him. Now look at the statements that David made, look at 1 Samuel 31-32

“31 And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.
32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine”.

Amongst all the thousands of people there, one man talking different. I remember one day I was praying and the Lord asked me, “Can one man make the difference?” All it took was one Hitler to scatter this world, all it took was one Adam to finish this race, and all it took was one Jesus to restore the human race. Don’t tell me one man cannot make the difference. Don’t let the devil lie to you. You can make the difference. “Let my lords heart not be afraid of this philistine, I will take care of it”
Verse 33
“33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth”.

Who are you to think that you can become a multi- millionaire, that you can have that business that you can marry that man that you can have that kind of ministry, which is what people said. The sons of the prophets were mocking Elisha, one day the said, your master would be taking away from you, they were all there jeering at him, but when Elisha came back with the mantle, and they said our lord. That is how life is, don’t let anybody confuse you. Who are you to think that God can bless you in such a manner? I don’t think I am anybody outside of who God has made me and I have been accepted in the beloveth. If God gave Jesus; His best for me. So when I look at m future see only brightness. The other day I was driving, I told myself it is good for a man to be contented with his life, and to understand the seasons of his life.
Saul was trying to talk him out of this, in verses 32-37
“32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee”.

Whether or not he said go, David would have gone anyway. At that moment Saul didn’t have the power over David, all he and was the power to release David because he was in authority, he was the king of the nation and God respected that. So David needed his go ahead so that he would be in order. But he didn’t have the power to bless David, he has abdicated this power through fear, when he said go, what did he mean; thanks God has sent a deliverer, go.

Verses 41-44
“41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.
42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
43 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field”.

Now don’t think because you have come out and step in faith, satan is just going to keep quiet, that giant was still trying to talk and intimidate David. Some people don’t learn that satan is a liar, if he has not stopped you all this way he is painting a bigger picture, just do what you did the last time and go and relax and forget that rascal. Thank God for David, he was a covenant warrior; he understood that this is a war of words.
Verses 45-46:
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel”.

Satan will tell you it will never happen, that disease will put you to your grave, you will never get out of this financial mess, you know what just begin to set the end for the devil when you are talking to him. This time tell him it is not even a matter of getting out of this debt, I will sponsor many, that is what David did, he shut that giant up. Now look at David statements to his, to Saul, to his situation, showed his mindset and mentality. He made statements and followed it up with actions. The Lord spoke to me that the words that David spoke revealed what was in his heart. The words that he consistently spoke revealed what was inside of him. The bible said out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. The words that you consistently speak, shows what is inside of you, the words that you consistently speak, locate you in life, the show were you are. I have discovered from the life of David, that whatever you refuse to confront, you will never be able to correct, confront it. There is a place for godly confrontation. What ever you cannot confront you will never conquer or change. As long as you are just massaging it, you cannot confront it, you are sweeping it under the carpet, and it won’t go. There must be a day when you confront it. David shows us this eternal principle, that the only way to deal with a problem is to confront it. Don’t runaway from it, confront it head on. When you confront face it, the wisdom of God will begin to work. No, we don’t go round about them; we confront them that is the only way to go through them. When you

meet a problem, what do you do? You don’t pretend as if it doesn’t exist. That is not faith, faith is not trying to go round about something, faith is confronting it, David confronted that giant, because I know that at the other end of you is my reward. So I’m gonna use my faith and what the wisdom of God tells me to do, I’m going to believe that I have the victory and then release God to do what he wants to do for me, I’m gonna see to the other side. When I look at the other side, I see myself standing strong over there.

Another lesson that we learnt from the life of David is that you cannot win life’s battle with somebody else’s revelation or faith. Get your own. We have this treasure in earthen vessels. Many times people meet me and tell me, please pray for me, pastor I hope you are praying for me, I say, honestly speaking I am not praying for you, because I’m not gonna lie, there’s just no way on earth that one person can pray for everybody. I pray as I am led by the Spirit of God, I pray as God put both in my heart. I’m not gonna deceive any body that I am praying consistently for them all the time, sometimes challenges of life come to me as a pastor because I am first a man before I’m anointed to be a pastor and I tell you, I wanna use my faith too and solve some of my own challenges. So it is important that in as much as we thank God for agreement or everything, you must develop your own faith. In that wilderness David developed his own faith, every trail you face in your life is an opportunity to develop your own faith, because nobody can be sincerely committed to you 24hrs a day. It is not possible; there would be a time that you must stand alone. Have you notice that after everybody and Saul gave David his armor and did everything, you will imagine that Saul will escort David even to the outer fringes of the battle. There was a time in my life I couldn’t preach this, I knew it was the truth but I couldn’t, do you know why? Fear. The devil told me the day you open your mouth and say this, I will kill you. One day I said I would say it, and I started telling the devil if you can cross the blood line, let’s see what you can do about that. And he shut up from that day, he is a coward. That is how cowards fight. Do you know the way to answer the devil? Do what he said you couldn’t do, and you will break his voice. You cannot fight any battle on someone else revelation, the day will come when you will need your own. So the place you are in, is where you are suppose to learn how to pray, how to hear God’s voice, how to use your faith, get your personal revelation of God. Because even though life battles are common in nature but they are still highly specialized. Nobody knows how it hurts like you, so nobody can pray for you like you. Apart from God, nobody can love you more than you love yourself. Go and study your bible. You can have what David had, and enjoy what David enjoyed, if you are willingly to do what David did. Those people didn’t understand it, Saul did understand it, he could have been the one that day, he could have established his kingship forever that day, any of those people could have made their mark that day, if only the understood this, that David did not use anything that was not available to everybody else. People usually ask, can I know God like this, would God hear me, will it work for me like it worked for this other person? Of cause it will, if you are willing to do what they did. “They that do know their God, shall be strong and they shall do exploits” the price of knowing God is allowing every circumstance of your life that seems like a challenge, look at it like it is not a challenge but an opportunity to see God’s great and mighty powe4r, His goodness, to learn how to work with God, because we already have inside information. That giant is already coming down. Use the giant as a training ground for your life. The Spirit of God told me, you can sit down and admire someone else’s work with God, someone else’s progress, testimony and forget that you can have the same, maybe even better, if you pay the price. Why I’m I saying all of this, because these messages started being birthed in my spirit, it is time for you to put your foot down and know that this is your season, let nobody talk you out of it again. Begin to think it and act it. When you look that goliath in the face, let it know that this time it is not going to see your back, where ever you are in life today, I am telling you, we are at the border and began to step into our promise land. It is yours, it belong to you. Let your voice be louder than goliaths’ voice, your resolve be more that goliaths’ resolve, if there is anybody that qualifies to be bless in this hour, it is you.
